Tactical Response Team arrests man in domestic violence, weapons case

MOSES LAKE – Grant County sheriff’s deputies, Moses Lake police officers and members of the Moses Lake Regional Tactical Response Team (TRT) teamed on April 21 to arrest a man on a variety of domestic violence-related charges. ?

Christopher Lee Helgeson, 31, of Moses Lake was taken to the Grant County Jail for investigation of second degree assault (domestic violence), first degree unlawful possession of a firearm, harassment threats to kill (domestic violence), and fourth degree assault (domestic violence). ?

The arrest was the result of a domestic violence investigation which started the previous day. Moses Lake police officers and Grant County deputies interviewed the victim, who showed signs of injuries allegedly caused by Helgeson, Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones said. ?

Investigators learned that Helgeson was a convicted felon and could possess firearms. Based on all the pieces of information, the TRT responded to serve the warrant for Helgeson’s arrest.

Helgeson came out of the home peacefully and was arrested. Investigators then searched the home in the 2500 block of Elgin Road NE, finding ammunition and ammo magazines for guns.

Since Helgeson is a convicted felon and not allowed to possess such items, the illegal firearms possession charges were added. ?

“This was a great piece of investigative teamwork by deputies and Moses Lake police,” Jones said. “Grant County law enforcement officers treat domestic violence as the serious crime that it is, and I am proud of everyone involved for their hard work.”
