Robert "Boyd" Davis, 84, of Royal Slope, died Wednesday April 3, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.

Boyd was born in the family home on June 24, 1928, in Wenatchee, WA, to Issac and Ada (Peterson) Davis. He graduated from Wenatchee High School. Growing up Boyd worked with his father and brothers at their business "Fair Price Tank and Welding", where he learned how to weld.

On July 9, 1950 He married a long time family friend LouAnn Chadbourne. Boyd went to work with her father as a cattle rancher near George. They family ranched below the area now known as the Gorge at George. They lived in a two room shack with no running water on the far end of their property. In 1954 Boyd contracted Polio. The disease devastated him physically and forced the family to move off the sand bar and back to Wenatchee. Boyd had to learn to walk again, and he did. In 1959 the family moved back to the sand bar and continued in their cattle business. They purchased land on Royal Slope and moved the cattle between George and Royal twice a years. With the building of the Wanapum damn in 1962 the property they ranched was flooded and the family moved to Royal Slope. Boyd and LouAnn sold his cows in 2000 and they moved to their home on road B. on the slope.

Boyd was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and participated in choir through school; he also performed in a trio with his brothers, singing at weddings and funerals. He was a member of the Apollo Club men's choir in Wenatchee; the Apollo club was formed in 1910 and continues today. He continued to sing throughout his life, often with his daughter Robyn. He enjoyed collecting old tractors, usually because he would use them until they broke and he had to get another one. He was a tinkerer and often felt he would fix the tractors when he had time. He was constantly taking things apart and sometimes getting them back together again. His life was surrounded by projects. He was an avid camper and fisherman. His favorite spot was Lake Conconully. His family fondly remembers the fall camping trips to the Washington Coast. He and LouAnn travelled much of the United States in their motor home then in their 5th wheel which they took to Alaska in 2002. Boyd's last trip was with LouAnn and friends on a cruise to Alaska in 2012.

Boyd will be remembered as a fun loving person who was always smiling and enjoyed a good laugh at himself. His family was the great love of his life.
