MOSES LAKE — Two men died early Wednesday morning after driving into Moses Lake.

Witnesses observed a Jeep SUV east on Valley Road driving at a high rate of speed, according to the Moses Lake Police Department. The driver of the vehicle allegedly ran the red light at Stratford Road, continued through the parking lot before hitting a PUD power box, heading down a grassy embankment, causing the vehicle to roll into the lake.

Two men, ages 21 and 20, died at the scene. A male passenger, 20, was able to get out of the vehicle before law enforcement arrived. Moses Lake fire fighters were able to force a door open and rescue another occupant, a 20-year-old male, according to reports.

An initial investigation determined alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to Capt. Dave Sands.

The names of the victims have not been released.
