Woman injured in collision near Othello

OTHELLO - A Post Falls, Idaho woman was injured Monday when a tractor truck collided with her van on state Route 26 east of Othello.

About 2:30 p.m., Donald Hightower, 78, of Kennewick, was driving his 1990 Peterbilt Tractor truck north on Booker Road six miles east of Othello. According to the State Patrol, Hightower failed to yield at a stop sign when he pulled out onto the highway. He reportedly struck the front of a Silver 1996 Plymouth Van heading east, driven by Carrie J.G. Stryka, 43, of Post Falls, Idaho. The van was towed from the scene.

Stryka was reportedly transported by ambulance to Othello Community Hospital for undisclosed injuries.

Hightower was uninjured in the collision.

According to the state patrol, the incident was caused by Hightower failing to yield at the intersection. He likely faces a charge of failing to yield.
