Basin dance group debuts Thursday

MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake dance troupe makes its debut performance this week as part of the Columbia Basin Allied Arts' Emerging Talent series.

Dancers from Impact Dance Project will perform "Visions" starting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wallenstein Theater at Big Bend Community College's ATEC building. The ATEC building is located at 7662 Chanute St. NE in Moses Lake.

Tickets for the performance cost $10 each and are available by calling 509-793-2059. Tickets are also available in Moses Lake at the Big Bend bookstore and at ArtGarden Pottery, which is located at 104 W. Third Ave.

In Ephrata, tickets are available at The Bookery, which is located at 1 Basin St. NW.

The Emerging Talent performance series was created to highlight local talent, according to the Allied Arts website. "Visions" was choreographed by Rian Creighton and Impact Dance Project members and will be performed by Moses Lake dancers.

Creighton is a Puyallup dance instructor, but holds workshops in Moses Lake for dancers in the area, according to an Allied Arts release.

Thursday's show will feature a contemporary dance that explores the magic and mystery of dreams, according to the Allied Arts website.

Impact Dance Project was formed by a group of area dance instructors who wanted to create more opportunities for young dancers in the Basin, according to the release. Besides seven company members, the group also consists of a junior member and a student apprentice.

The group plans to include additional student apprentices in future seasons, according to the release.

Members of the dance group want to use high-quality performances to educate the community about dance and to inspire creativity in the area.
