Tack Swap benefits Ephrata 4-H club

MOSES LAKE - The White Trail Riders 4-H Club's Tack Swap provided people the chance to rid their barns of old horse equipment, or find something new.
Items available during the weekend event included Western and English saddles, bridles, bits, pads, clothes and other equine-related items.
"People donated items they don't need any more or want anymore," said T.J. Harting with the Ephrata-based club. "A lot of it is things that kids have outgrown or the kids have gone to college. Some people bring in a few items and some people bring in a lot."
Consignments items were taken Friday and sold from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge at 814 N. Stratford Rd.
The proceeds from the event benefit the 4-H club and Harting said they usually make about $1,000 dollars from the fundraiser. The club also added a bake sale this year, with items available by cash donation.
The money collected during the event helps fund community services provided by the 4-H club, including paying for holiday food baskets donated to the local food bank. The money also helps pay for an annual Christmas party for the 4-H children and fair entries. The 4-H club also provides riding lessons each year.
To join the 4-H club, children must be in the third grade or age 10 up to 19, or a senior in high school.
