SOAP LAKE - The Masquers Theater is holding auditions for an upcoming comedy play opening June 28 in Soap Lake.

"Bed Ride," written by Matthew Weaver, a former Columbia Basin Herald reporter, is a comedy about a bedridden couple. The play will be directed by Masquers' Artistic Director Beverly Hasper.

Auditions will be held at Masquers Theater at 2 p.m. March 30 and 31. The theater is located on 322 Main Ave. E in Soap Lake.

Most of the open parts are for people ages 17 to 40, but there are parts for older people, according to Hasper.

The auditions are open to anyone and no preparations are necessary.

Opening night for the play is June 28 and it runs until mid-July. For more information, contact Hasper at 509-246-1095 or 760-3805.

The Masquers Theater opened in 1979 and is one of the oldest rural community theaters in the state.

The theater is also performing "Fahrenheit 451," based on the novel by Ray Bradbury, starting April 26 and running through May 12. General admission costs $12, seniors and students $10. Tickets for the April 26 performance are available at a discounted rate of $9.
