WARDEN - After being shutout in their first two matches of the season by a combined score of 2-0, the Cougars offense got a much needed shot in the arm as Warden raced past Naches Valley 10-0 at home Tuesday.

"We didn't play that good of a game, but we were finally able to score some goals," coach Ed Aguilar said. "I hope we are able keep the momentum going against Connell at their field Thursday."

The Cougars took command early with two quick goals by Fernando Landeros to go up top 2-0.

Landeros' first score (unassisted) came 13 minutes into the contest. His second (Carlos Figueroa) found the back of the Rangers box two minutes later.

Antonio Figueroa (Landeros) made it 3-0 at the 18 minute-mark. Freshman Peter Manville recorded his first varsity goal (Carlos Figueroa) at 30 minutes and ended the first half scoring with the Cougars up 4-0.

It didn't get any better for Naches Valley defenders in the second half of play as Warden put another 6 goals on the scoreboard.

The first came at the 50th minute on an unassisted score by Ricardo Araujo. Warden pushed the score to 6-0 on Antonio Figueroa's second goal of the match (Jesus Dominguez) 10 minutes later. Dominguez (Osbaldo Alba) added a score of his own at the 65th minute of action to make it 7-0. Carlos Figueroa raced past defenders in the 70th minute to record his second goal of the match (unassisted), Dominguez added his second score (Manville) at the 73 minute-mark, and Sergio Vela (Orlando Alba) rounded out the Cougar scoring with a goal at 85th minute of the game.

Warden had 15 shots on frame for the match. Naches Valley had 4.

The win over the Rangers improves Warden to 1-2 in SCAC league play.

The Cougars are back on the pitch this afternoon when they travel to Connell to face the Eagles.
