Unsecured waste load fees announced

EPHRATA – With spring yard and garden clean-up right around the corner, Grant County Solid Waste reminds residents that all loads of waste must be secured while they are transported.

That includes every load brought to county-maintained drop box sites, the Ephrata Landfill, the Delano Transfer Station, and the Consolidated Disposal Transfer Station in Moses Lake.

A secured load is covered with a tarp, inside an enclosed vehicle, or otherwise secured or tied down by safety chains, straps or other fastening devices. Garbage bags will be considered an unsecured load if they are not covered with a tarp, inside an enclosed vehicle, or otherwise secured or tied down.

A fee will be charged to all vehicles with unsecured loads. The unsecured load fee is in addition to any other disposal charges and will be based on the size of the load:

Passenger licensed vehicles 1-3 yard capacity - $5.00

Trucks and other vehicles over 3 yard capacity - $15.00
