MOSES LAKE - Grant County Fair officials will offer campers a chance at a designated camping spot during fair week, but it will cost a little more.

Traditionally the campgrounds at the fair have been first come, first served, which meant there was always a long line of campers waiting for the fairgrounds to open.

Letters were sent to the people who camped at the fairgrounds in 2012, offering them the chance to reserve their spot for 2013, according to Staci Jones, the fair's office assistant.

Advance registration will cost campers $100 for fair week. The fee will be $75 for fair week after advance registration closes, but any remaining spaces are not reserved, Jones said.

Campers have until March 31 to register and pay the fee. The fee must be paid in full by March 31, Jones said.

The idea is to cut down on those long traffic lines, and the long wait some campers endured while waiting to register, she said.

The fairgrounds has three campgrounds, with about 275 total camping spaces. People who didn't camp last year but who want to reserve a spot will be placed on a waiting list, Jones said. They will get first chance at the remaining spots, she said.

Campers from 2012 who didn't receive a letter should contact the fair office, she said.
