Lawmakers hold town hall by phone

OLYMPIA - State Sen. Linda Evans Parlette and Reps. Cary Condotta and Brad Hawkins connect with the public in a telephone town hall meeting Wednesday to address this year's legislative session.
People can listen to the call, ask questions and take part in instant polls without leaving home by dialing 1-877-229-8493 and entering the numbers 15405, followed by the "pound' key.
"We've been hosting telephone town halls for several years now and have found them to be a great way to get direct input about the legislative session from North Central Washington residents who can participate from the comfort of their own home," said Parlette, R-Wenatchee.
The town hall will be held at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.
"Given the fact that ours is the largest geographical legislative district, this is the best way to get everyone together in a community forum," Parlette said.
The 12th District lawmakers have been working on a variety of issues, including transportation tax proposals, workers' compensation reforms and education funding.
This will be Hawkins', R-East Wenatchee, first telephone town hall.
"I'm excited to participate in my first telephone town hall as a newly elected legislator and talk to the people of the 12th District about what we are working on in Olympia," he said.
The 12th District includes Soap Lake and Coulee City.
