$20K in stolen property recovered in Quincy

QUINCY - Grant County sheriff's deputies recovered $20,000 in stolen goods at a rural Quincy home.

An investigation of several thefts led to a search warrant at 13290 Road M.5 Northwest on Thursday.

One of the suspects in the case, Daniel Amaya, 39, of Ephrata, was arrested on other warrants and is booked into the Grant County Jail, according to the sheriff's office. He now faces charges connected to the stolen property case.

Deputies found a many items believed stolen on the property, including a truck-mounted fuel tank, electric fuel pump, 4000-watt Honda generator, laser surveying tools, four railroad crossing batteries, an oxy-acetylene torch, a Suzuki ATV, chop saw and most of a stolen GMC pickup truck. About $20,000 in stolen property has been recovered, according to the sheriff's office.

Two firearms were also found and seized because Amaya is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess guns.

Deputies are continuing to search for Amaya's crime associations and more property is likely to be recovered.

"This recovery of property helps wrap up many area thefts," Sheriff Tom Jones stated. "Deputies continue to be vigilant in finding local thieves, and I am very proud of my deputies and the work they do."

Jones noted the recovery and arrest dealt a blow to an alleged major player in the local theft trade.
