| March 13, 2013 6:00 AM

Patricia Beam, 87 years old, passed away on Friday March 8, 2013 at the Hearthstone in Moses Lake. She was surrounded by family and 2 very special friends.

Pat was born March 17, 1925 at the family home in Isleton California to the parents of Frank and Nora Tenente. She graduated from Rio Vista High School. After high school, Pat worked for a local doctor assisting with the delivery of many babies in homes. Also an active member of the VFW.

After a brief war time 18 day courting, Pat married the love of her life, Logan Beam. This romance lasted 64 wonderful years until the death of Logan in 2010.

She left her hometown of Isleton to relocate with her family to Moses Lake in 1960. Pat immediately got involved in her community. She was an active member of the Lady Lions, a camp fire leader and took an active part in her church Our Lady of Fatima in the Altar Society and CCD. You were welcomed by her smiling face when you entered Lakeside Optical where she was employed for 16 years.

In 1976 Pat and Logan decided to pack up and start a new family adventure with Western Auto in Umatilla Oregon. Pat loved people. In Umatilla you could find her cooking and serving at a local grocery store deli. Later a new business Pat's Corner started. She enjoyed buying and selling. She greeted everyone with a smile.

In 1984 they decided Moses Lake was their home and returned. Pat loving retail and clothing was employed at Fashion Crossroads. Health caused her to retire but she still made time to volunteer at the Senior Center Thrift Store.

Pat was an avid sports fan. Pat never missed the San Francisco 49er's, Huskies, Mariners or Gonzaga games.

Pat was a wonderful cook. Her nationality being Portuguese it was very important she passed foods and traditions down to her family, which are still observed on every holiday. Survived by her 2 children, daughter LaDawn (Mike) Garwood Moses Lake, son Logan Beam of Wenatchee, and Granddaughter Michelle Mercier of Spokane. Great Grandchildren Hunter and Camdyn. Brother, Frank Tenente of Lodi Calif. Adopted daughter, Connie Vandervelden. A special thank you to the staff at Emeritus at Hearthstone. The love and wonderful care given to our mother will never be forgotten. There are no words to express our appreciation to Hospice. Jennifer, Mark, Paul and volunteer Lois you are wonderful. We are so blessed to have you in our community.

Services will be held Thursday March 14, 11am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 200 N. Dale Rd., Moses Lake.
