Quincy man charged for George shooting

EPHRATA - A Quincy man arrested in connection to Sunday night's shooting in George now faces attempted murder charges in Grant County Superior Court.

Hector M. Contreras Rodriguez, 21, faces two counts of attempted murder in the first degree for allegedly shooting two juveniles outside a George residence Sunday.

Grant County deputies responded about 9:15 p.m. to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 200 block of East Montmorency Boulevard. Police found two juveniles wounded by gunfire at the scene, according to court documents.

The first victim, a 16-year-old male, sustained gunshot wounds to the left arm, face and knee.

The other victim, a 14-year-old female, was shot in the back, according to court records.

Both victims were initially transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center. According to court documents, the male victim was later transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, and the female victim was later flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

According to court documents, the victims saw a dark-colored Honda at a George gas station earlier in the evening. The victims reportedly pulled in to the gas station because they thought they might know the people in the car.

The victims approached the car and saw Contreras Rodriguez and two other people, according to records. They reportedly left the gas station at that point and went to the Montmorency Boulevard residence.

According to court documents, the victims reported sitting outside in the car for about 20 to 40 minutes before Contreras Rodriguez and the two other individuals allegedly pulled up behind them.

Contreras Rodriguez allegedly shot at the vehicle at least three times, before fleeing the scene, according to court records.

Police found three .380 caliber bullet casings at the scene.

Contreras Rodriguez reportedly told police he was not involved in the shooting, according to court records.
