Moses Lake man charged with possession of meth

EPHRATA - Moses Lake resident Larry Q. Bronson Jr., 31, was charged with possession of methamphetamine after police reportedly discovered he had about 0.4 grams of the drug.

Bronson is also charged with making a false statement to a public servant after he allegedly gave police his brother's name instead of his to avoid getting in trouble, according to court documents.

On Feb. 28 a Moses Lake police officer responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 1200 block of South Pioneer Way. According to records, the officer found a male, later identified as Bronson, sitting in a parking lot and looking through a telescope.

Bronson reportedly told the officer he was looking through the telescope and trying to focus the lens for a friend, according to court documents. Bronson allegedly gave his brother's name to the officer when asked to identify himself.

According to the police report, the officer pulled up a photo for the name Bronson used and found that Bronson was not the person in the photo. Bronson reportedly told the officer it was him and he had lost a lot of weight due to frequent drug use, according to court records.

Bronson also told the officer his brother Larry gets mistaken for him frequently, according to records. The officer then reportedly retrieved a photo for Larry and determined he was actually talking to Larry Bronson and not the name Bronson initially used.

According to court documents, the officer detained Bronson due to an outstanding felony warrant under his name. Bronson allegedly told the officer he was not trying to lie but he didn't want to get in trouble.

The officer reportedly found a plastic bag in Bronson's hat with trace amounts of a crystal-like substance. According to court records, the officer found another plastic bag with the same substance on top of the police car. Bronson reportedly told the officer he threw it on the car earlier in their conversation because he didn't want the officer to find it.

Bronson was then transported to Grant County Jail, according to court documents.
