Lorraine Ann Marie Bennett, 89, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 23, 2013 in Moses Lake. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel.

Lorraine was born along with her very special twin sister, Margaret Marie on January 9, 1924 in Sacramento, California to Jack Victor and Louise Anna Unden. She also had three brothers, Jack, Edward and Kenneth who all preceded her in death.

She grew up in Sacramento and attended Robla Elementary and Grant Union high school. In high school, she was a majorette for 4 years along with Margaret, for the drum and bugle choir. They were the only girls and marched in many parades. Also she was active on the high school softball team playing short stop and enjoyed that her mother attended many of the games. She was president of the girls athletic club during high school and her junior and senior years was vice president of the student body. When she graduated, she received athletic award. She loved sports. Her older brother Jack always played baseball and she and Margaret always flirted with his teammates. She and her sister also loved to roller skate, (waltzing and spinning). Her family would spend summers at Lake Tahoe.

After graduating in May of 1941, she went to a training school for bookkeeping in Monterey, California. She received a job from the war department in September of 1941 as a clerk/typist at Fort Ord. While in Monterey she met Wayne Elden Bennett. On July 16, 1942, they went to Reno and were married. In April of 1942, she transferred to McClellan Field in Sacramento. She was a personal affairs counselor dealing with injuries and casualties of war. In July of 1946 she quit to become a fulltime homemaker. In May of 1947 her son, John Wayne was born and in August of 1950 her son Gary Jack was born, both in Sacramento. They moved to Moses Lake in 1954. Mark Jerry was born in January of 1956. In 1967 she mourned the loss of her father and shortly thereafter her mother came to live with her. Her mother passed away in 1984 at the age of 92.

Lorraine loved to sunbathe, was an avid bowler, enjoyed fishing, loved her rose garden and enjoyed dancing in her younger years. She made beautiful ceramics for years, which she shared with everyone. She treated her many dogs like they were kings and queens. In her bingo days, you would find her at the Elks or Moose Lodge a couple times a week. She always enjoyed a trip to play the slots. She was a volunteer at Samaritan Hospital gift shop in her later years. Her family was her life. She was always giving of herself and wanted to please everyone. She enjoyed cooking and baking and you never went home hungry after visiting her. Most of all, she had a "HEART OF GOLD" and was the BEST grandma ever.

She is survived by her twin sister, Margaret Matthews of Sacramento CA; sons, John (Diane) Bennett, Soldotna, AK and Marc Bennett, Moses Lake; niece, Jo Anne Baizer, Redding, CA; grandchildren, Lisa Bennett, Johna Bennett of Post Falls, ID, Josh Bennett, Coeur d'alene, ID; great grandchildren, Elijah, Quin, Libby, Maliyah all of Post Falls, Jayden of Coeur d'alene; nephews, George (Zenia) Matthews, Citrus Heights, CA, Jack (Brenda) Matthews, Karen (Jerry) Darling of Sacramento along with many other nieces and nephews.
