GEORGE - Two juveniles were seriously injured Sunday night after a shooting in George.

Grant County deputies responded about 9:15 p.m. to 215 E. Montmorency Blvd. for a report of a shooting. A deputy was nearby and arrived on scene six minutes after the call. He found two juveniles wounded by gunfire, according to Sheriff Tom Jones.

One victim, a 16-year-old male, sustained gunshot wounds to the torso, knee and face. The other victim, a 14-year-old female, was shot in the torso, according to Jones.

Both victims were transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center before being flown by helicopter to trauma centers. Both remain in serious condition, Jones said.

Witnesses told deputies four people, including the two victims, were sitting in a car in front of the residence. Another car pulled up behind them and at least two people exited the car and began shooting, according to Jones. The suspect fled the scene.

Deputies, with the assistance of Quincy police, arrested two suspects connected to the shooting.

Hector M. Contreras Rodriguez, 21, of Quincy, is in Grant County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 16-year-old male is lodged in the Grant County Youth Services Facility on suspicious of attempted murder.

"Deputies, detectives, the Washington State Patrol and Quincy police did a great job working this case and finding two people who we believe are responsible," Jones said. "It is very important to emphasize no area schools are in lockdown due to this incident."

The sheriff's office is unsure if the incident is gang-related. Jones said the incident is not connected to the shooting in Moses Lake Saturday where a 60-year-old man was killed. There are still no suspects in that case.
