Donald G. Freeman

Donald G. Freeman passed away peacefully on February 24, 2013.

Born in Kansas on August 22, 1922 to Claude and Verna Freeman, he was raised in Salina. He proudly served in the Navy in the Pacific in WWII, most notably on the USS Colorado, and for many years in the Navy Reserve as a Chief. He settled in northeast Seattle, then Bellevue area, working in the printing industry.

After his retirement he moved to Eastern WA for many years, which reminded him of Kansas. The last three years he lived in Port Orchard where he made many friends. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks and VFW.

Don is survived by his brother Roger of Kansas City, children Carol Grubaugh and Robin Bookey of WA and Christopher Freeman of CA, grandchildren Joy Beardsley, Sara James and Erin Bookey and great grandchildren Simon and Maren Beardsley. Also included in his extended family are Rick, Mike and Dirk Simmons, Wendy and Brian Simmons and Barbara Brabant. He is predeceased by his sister Doris and wives Elaine Freeman, Jane Simmons and Georgina Foss.

He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Memorial Service will be March 9th at 1 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery Shelter 4. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Disabled American Veterans. www.dav.org/donate/Default.aspx
