MLBA director honored by MLPD

MOSES LAKE - Marianne Kirwan, outgoing executive director of the Moses Lake Business Association, was recognized by the Moses Lake Police Department for her continued support of Moses Lake.

Police Chief Dean Mitchell presented Kirwan a plaque at MLBA's Nite Out recently. The recognition came as a surprise to Kirwan, who recently resigned her position with the MLBA.

"On behalf of the men and women of the Moses Lake Police Department, we'd like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for helping us strive to reach our vision. Your selfless efforts and willingness to support our department have resulted in a safer environment for the businesses in our community," according to the certificate of appreciation.

Mitchell praised her for always volunteering and helping on a number of occasions. After a string of vandalism at Laketown Landing businesses, Kirwan helped organize a citizen task force which patrolled the streets, Mitchell said. The offender was eventually caught and the vandalism stopped.

The MLBA is a non-profit organization working to stimulate economic development in the business district and maintain a healthy business community and a high quality of life.
