MOSES LAKE - Allison Baker, new head coach at Big Bend Community College will be conducting her first Lady Viking Volleyball Camp July 29-31.

Baker, a three-time All-Western Athletic Conference players at the University of Idaho, and member of the "Bring it USA" team that played in China, will be teaching girls in grades 6-12, how to play the game of volleyball.

The camp is being held in the DeVries Activities Center.

"We'll start with the basics and breakdown every skill," Baker said. "The idea is to focus on technique, allow the girls to grasp what we are trying to teach, and then possibly break them into groups according to their skill levels and scrimmage. But that (scrimmaging) will depend on how many girls turn out."

Camp instruction begins at 8:30 a.m., and ends at 2:30 p.m. each day. The registration fee is $90 (if you bring your own lunch), and $110 if you buy a three-day lunch buffet to eat at the college.

Participants must provide their own medical insurance. The camp assumes no responsibility for accident or illness.

Awards will be given for individual and team performance. In addition, each player will receive a camp T-shirt. Registration forms are available on the Big Bend Community College volleyball web page at www.bigbend.edu. Click on Athletics under the Student Life banner, then on the Women's Volleyball link on the left of the page, and then on the Volleyball Camp link. Registrations will be accepted on the first day of the camp if there are openings.
