SummerFest Scramble set for July 6 at Royal Golf Course

| June 27, 2013 6:00 AM

ROYAL CITY - The Royal City Summerfest Scramble Golf Tournament will be played on Saturday, July 6, one week before SummerFest, and the entire Columbia Basin is invited.

“You don't have to be good to play,” said PGA Pro Randy Puetz. “This is a tournament for everyone.”

There will be prizes for each team that makes it into the lowest-scoring third of the field.

You can make up your own teams. They can be four men, four women or a combination of four men and women.

Scramble is the best format for success. After all four players hit their tee shots, they move to the ball with the best result and take their second shots and so on until the hole is completed.

Rarely does a bad shot ruin a round. To make sure, players will be able to purchase mulligans for $4 each. And there will be a beverage cart.

The tournament will get under way at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. The entry fee will be $30 for public players and $25 for members of the golf club. Payment will be taken at 8 a.m.

Powered golf cars are available, but they must be reserved.

There will be special event holes such as long drive, closest to the pin, longest putt made and team straight drive.
