Dorothy was born on December 28, 1924 at the home of her grandparents in Bedford, Iowa. She was the middle child of Howard and Vera Payton.

Dorothy spent the years of her youth on her parents' farm in Iowa. In 1942, Dorothy met and married L.P. Glass in Maryville, Missouri and in 1952, Dorothy, L.P. and their three children moved to Washington where L.P. worked on the Columbia Basin Project. Dorothy worked as a cook for the local Greyhound Depot in the commissary at Larson Air Force Base. The family moved to Chewelah where Dorothy helped in their dairy operation. Upon returning to Moses Lake, Dorothy went to work as a cook for the Moses Lake School District where she remained for thirty years. She was famous for her delicious cinnamon rolls. After retirement from the school district, she went to work for National Frozen Foods, where at the age of 70, she proudly worked 70 hours in one week during harvest.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and looked forward to having them all over to her home. With so many children around, her things would sometimes get broken. She might scold you, but would tuck them away to fix later. Her family was more precious than "her things".

Dorothy enjoyed a group of ladies she got together with known as the Widow Women's Group. She enjoyed having her friends and family around her and she never met a kid she did not like. Everyone was welcome in her home and everyone loved her noodles and beef on mashed potatoes.

Preceding her in death were her husband L.P. Glass; her sons Jim and Ed Glass; her brother Sam Payton; and her parents Howard and Vera Payton.

She is survived by her daughter Linda (Norm) Benson; son Phillip Glass; daughters-in-law Karen Glass and Paulett Duncalf; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to give an extra special thanks to those who spent so much time with Dorothy during her illness.
