ROYAL CITY - Grant County-based Foolish Fortune will be the featured band for the July 12 Friday night BBQ at the Royal City SummerFest.

"They play a variety of classic rock, dance, and top 40 music," said SummerFest Chairperson Cara Hoyt. "They came to us highly recommended."

Enjoyment of the band, the talent show and fireworks is a free SummerFest event.

Foolish Fortune has performed at the Richland Concert Series, at Big Bend Back to School Parties, at Moses Lake SpringFest as well as commercial venues.

The Friday night show will be chaired by Mario Godoy. He reports that his talent search for Royal's Got Talent has been fruitful, but he is still on the lookout for local talent. You may contact him at 346-1121 either for yourself or for someone you know is talented.

A local of note, Kayla Maxfield, daughter of Connie Seely, got her start on the Royal City SummerFest stage, and Moose Lodge Karaoke. She is currently auditioning for The Voice.

This week, Maxfield's Facebook page said she made the next cut in the auditioning process.

"Wouldn't it be fabulous if she makes the television stage?" Hoyt commented.

Michael and Lisa Christensen head up the Saddle Mountain Supply team that makes the SummerFest BBQ happen. They provide all of the groceries, the preparation and the serving.

"This is their donation to SummerFest," Hoyt said.

Ticket prices are a great deal at $3.50 presale. Presale tickets traditionally make the early birds eligible for door prizes. They are available at Royal City Harvest Foods.

Dinner will be served from 6-8 p.m. The evening will culminate with Pyro Dan's Fireworks Display at about 10 p.m.

While a tent and about 300 chairs will be provided, Hoyt encourages attendees to bring a chair or a blanket.
