Woman hit by train, killed in Ephrata

EPHRATA - A woman was hit and killed by a freight train at the Amtrak depot in Ephrata Saturday morning.

Emergency crews responded about 9:45 a.m. for a pedestrian and train collision. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials are still determining the identity of the victim, whose name will be released after her family is notified.

Traffic will be detoured to the state Route 282 overpass on the west side of Ephrata for the next several hours.
