MOSES LAKE - The parking lot at Sporty's Steakhouse will be filled with classic Chevys and Fords, Stingray and Mustang muscle cars, Harleys and other bikes and maybe even some antique cars at the car and bike show, beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Sporty's is located at 607 East Broadway Ave.

"It's a lot of fun," said Chantel Smith, Sporty's manager. The show usually draws about 50 vehicles, including cars, trucks and motorcycles, she said. In fact there are so many cars that organizers get permission to close the alley behind the building.

Trophies will be awarded about 4 p.m., Smith said, and they include a people's choice for both the cars and motorcycles. Other categories will be evaluated by the judges and include muscle cars, antiques and classics, trucks, motorcycles and foreign cars, among others. Trophies are awarded to the top placers.

People can enter the day of the show, Smith said. The entry fee is $25. All participants receive a dash plaque.

Sporty's owners will serve hot dogs and German sausages during the day, and the beverage garden will open at 11 a.m., Smith said. One of the attractions will be Bernie Erickson's oversize vehicle with an air gun on top, she said.

Live music is scheduled all afternoon, with Cover Story playing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the Darnell Scott Band from 3 to 8 p.m. DJ Julio will take the stage at 8 p.m.

The car show was the idea of an employee, back in the day, and the owners have kept it going since, Smith said.
