Babe Ruth World Series coming to Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE - The Babe Ruth Baseball 14-year-old World Series Tournament is taking place at Larson Field Aug. 17-24. Eight regional champions from across the country, the state champion from Washington, and a host team from Moses Lake will be competing in the week-long event.

Teams from New England, the Middle Atlantic, Ohio Valley, the Southeast, Midwest Plains, Southwest, Pacific Southwest, and the Pacific Northwest regions of the US will be participating in qualifying tournaments beginning the third week of July. The top team from each region will then move on to Moses Lake to compete for the title of World Series Champion.

"We are still looking for people to house kids coming to town," Randy Boruff, local tournament director and North Washington State Babe Ruth Commissioner, said. "We are also needing to raise more money to put on the event, and are looking for corporate sponsorship."

Boruff said 25 more "foster homes" are needed to house kids participating in the tournament. Organizers of the tournament are also $15,000 short of the needed funding to cover the cost of the event.
