| June 17, 2013 6:05 AM

ROYAL CITY - Kent Anderson has been elevated from the Royal City Council to the position of mayor. The selection was made by the city council on June 4.

Anderson has been on the city council for more than a year and a half. He was appointed by former Mayor Mike Stark and then won an election.

Anderson is a retired educator. He was the Royal Middle School principal, and later the district administrator.

The biggest project Anderson will face early in his administration, is the water line replacement project along Camelia Street. It will be changed from steel pipe to PVC, and the street will need repaving.
