Man critically injured in motorcycle crash

| June 16, 2013 6:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - A 67-year-old Moses Lake man was in critical condition at a Spokane hospital on June 5 after a motorcycle crash about eight miles north of Moses Lake. ?

Cliff Nicholas was riding a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Stonecrest Road NE just west of Neppel Road NE around 8:50 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve, Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones said. He lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown off into a field.

Nicholas, who sustained life-threatening injuries, was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. From there he was flown by MedStar to Providence-Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. He was listed in critical condition with head and chest injuries. ?

Alcohol appears to have contributed to the accident, Jones said. Nicholas was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the collision. ??
