MOSES LAKE - Area businesses can learn more about changes to workplace safety regulations during the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce's annual breakfast meeting June 25.

Chamber Executive Director Debbie Doran-Martinez said regulations are changing and becoming more strenuous.

"There are a lot of changes taking place and we want to make our businesses aware of them," she said. "We don't want an auditor coming in and fining them for not having proper manuals and other things in place."

Steven Fuhriman, of Synki Enterprises, will discuss changes to hazard communication standards during the breakfast meeting on June 25, said Doran-Martinez.

The meeting takes place at Ralphie's in Moses Lake from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. The cost is $15 for chamber members and $20 for non-members.

Doran-Martinez said businesses are now required to have spec sheets on all chemicals at their workplace. The spec sheets should have information on what to do if a certain chemical spills, she said.

Businesses of all sizes should be aware of the new regulations because chemicals can include printer toner, Windex, Lysol and other products people don't normally consider chemicals, she said.

"We just want to make businesses aware of what those changes are and what resources are out there for them," Doran-Martinez said.

Participants are encouraged to register early by calling the chamber at 509-765-7888. They can also register online at www.moseslake.com.

Ralphie's is located at 323 S. Pioneer Way.
