Fresh News From MarDon

Perch fishing on the MarDon Dock continues to provide many families with limit lever perch catching. It continues to amaze our returning guests at MarDon Resort to see the increased populations of yellow perch, all over the Potholes Reservoir. Potholes Reservoir is just a couple feet below high pool as of Wednesday, June 12, 2013. The use of an underwater video camera off the Dock has been extremely entertaining to watch, visually it looks like an aquarium filled with fish. This evidence verifies the re-established perch populations on Potholes Reservoir, showing four different age classes of yellow perch. Recently we have witnessed the beginning of the crappie and blue-gill migration to the dock as well.

Walleye action continues to improve this past week. Many of the customers at MarDon Resort are catching near limits but it can be challenging at times.

Small mouth bass along the face of O'Sullivan Dam continues to provide great action. The baits of choice are top water lures, drop shotting, and yoyo jigging off the bottom with a football head and a yamamoto grub. Or simply a night-crawler is always a safe bet. Our WDFW Biologists have asked us at MarDon Resort to ask fishers to keep their limit of smallmouth bass, which is 10 fish with one over 14 inches, because Potholes Reservoir is over populated with smallmouth bass.
