Tom Kikuchi, 92 of Moses Lake passed away early Wednesday morning at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Washington.

Tom was born on March 16, 1921 in Davis County Utah to Hiro and Seiroku Kikuchi. The family moved from Utah to Gaston, Oregon in 1935. Tom learned to farm at an early age and worked alongside of his parents in the fields.

Tom lost his father to a stroke when he was only 15 years old and he and his sisters were sent to live with relatives in Utah.

In 1941 the Japanese people were ordered off of the West Coast and Tom went to Portland Center before he joined a group of people that were going to Eastern Oregon to work. He worked there on a farm with people who became lifelong friends.

On January 21, 1945 Tom married Yuri Konishi and they had two sons, Alan and Kenneth. The family lived in Moses Lake where Tom farmed and later worked for Japan Air Lines as a bus driver for the pilots.

After Yuri passed away, Tom moved to Quincy to be closer to Alan. He lived there for six years before a fall seriously limited his ability to walk. He moved back to Moses Lake and was living at the Golden Age Adult Family Home until his death.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, a sister Kiyo, his wife Yuri, and his son Kenneth. He is survived by his son Alan and daughter-in-law Janeil of Quincy, Washington, three sisters, Jane Sugihara of Salt Lake City, Utah, March Mukai of University Place, Washington, Faye Aoyama of Salt Lake City, Utah, and many nieces and nephews.

Private family services were held for Tom on Wednesday, June 12 in Moses Lake at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. The family is grateful for the care Tom received at the Cambridge Assisted Living Facility in Quincy and the caregivers at the Golden Age Adult Family Home.
