Sonico employee comments on eviction

| June 14, 2013 6:00 AM

I have been at Sonico Inc. for a year in July as a Purchasing Assistant and from my understanding, Sonico Inc. was under the impression that the Port of Moses Lake, knew that Sonico Inc. wanted to stay in the area and rent out or buy a hanger. For the past 15 years the Port knew the hanger that we use has some risks to the building of 408, but no danger to safety of employees. Bill Perdue stated in a May 29 company meeting that he has documentation of many offers to the Port of Moses Lake to be able to rent or buy a building and he has felt in good faith that they would help us accomplish this goal.

The Perdue family does have property to build on and could have done so many years ago, however: Mr. Perdue has this vision of having his company with a hangar and to have all his employees in the same area. To do this he needs the support from the Port of Moses Lake to be able to have airplanes be able to dock up-to the hangar on the tarmac. He has not built a new building because he cannot afford to build a new building and have a hanger built. I feel to give a company 6 month eviction notice to get out, after being loyal renters for over 33 years, with no documentation saying there are risks to employee safety, is not completely fair to anyone!

In the May 29 company meeting, I was told by Mr. Perdue the Port of Moses Lake needs and should provide more documentation and they cannot because they do not have any more proof to provide. They just want us out, what the reasons are; I feel there is more to it than I understand. I would just like my job and my fellow employee's job's to feel safe and I hope the Port of Moses Lake give us the time that is asked for Sonico Inc. build our new building. If there is an eviction I fear there will be business lost and there will be layoffs that will affect over 40 families. I hope this does not disrupt our place of business. All this hearsay has made us all feel our jobs are at risk. I do not wish these emotions on anyone and feel this whole situation could have been handled very differently.
