ROYAL CITY - The third and final Histio Heroes Bike-a-Walk-a-thon will be held this Saturday, June 15, at the Royal Schools campus.

Histio Heroes was created two years ago as a fundraiser in honor of Histiocytosis victim Jackson Noftle of Royal City. It has raised more than $70,000 for the research of Histiocytosis.

"I'm hoping we can go over $100,000 total this year," his mother Becky Noftle said.

Histio Heroes will end this year, Becky said, because Jackson is planning to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints next year. And he's hoping to normalize his life after graduation from high school next spring.

This Histio Heroes will be the same as the previous two. Participants will walk around the high school track or bike on a special one-mile layout on campus.

Registration will go from 8:00-9:30 a.m. in front of Red Rock Elementary. It will cost $10 to participate or $25 to receive a T-shirt as well.

For golf aficionados, Ryan Christensen will once again conduct a closest-to-the-hole competition. Players will get one for $5 or three shots for $10.

The race will go from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Volunteers will mark race cards accordingly as participants make their way around either track.

Lunch will be served at noon. It will be free for participants and cost $5 for non-participants.

Awards and cash prizes will handed out during/after lunch as soon as winners are determined.

During and after the race, there will be games for young attendees. They will include plinko, a duck pond, and face painting, all free. There will also be a bake sale, where you can purchase goodies, and a raffle.

Raffle tickets will be sold before and during the race with a quilt and other fun items to win. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the bike-a-walk-a-thon for a $1.
