Ruth Irene Brown

Ruth Irene Brown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away June 4, 2013 in Moses Lake Senior Living Community surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born July 28, 1923 in Boyd, Montana to Fred and Louise Reiter. Ruth married Lyle Lennox Brown September 22, 1943. They were married 50 years before his passing in 1993. Ruth was a very loving and nurturing mother of 8 children.

She loved cooking, canning, crocheting, gardening, and baking. She was known for her delicious pies and popcorn balls. She loved working word search puzzles and playing cribbage with her family and long-time friend Irene. Ruth was Postmaster for the Hatton post office for 19 years before they closed the Post Office and went to routes. Everyone knew the coffee pot was always on and they could always find home-made cookies, brownies, and if they were really lucky, a bite of one of her delicious pies.

Ruth is survived by 7 of her 8 children Frances (Fran) Hayes (Bob), Nelson (Lyle) Brown (Esther), Darrel Brown (Ginger), Gary Brown (Flossy), David Brown (Lynda), Juli Maplethorpe (Dan), Shelly Haywood (Alan), 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister Grace Dixon, and long-time friend Irene Thompson. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Lyle and son Stanley , one great-grandchild, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff of Dr. Hourigan and the staff at the Moses Lake Senior Living community for the love and care shown to our mother as well as the officiating minister Dan Wilson.

Carver Family Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements. A Graveside Memorial service will be held at Reservation Community Memorial Park in Wapato, WA on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at the residence of JD & Shellie Diaz, 342 S. Ruth will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will never be forgotten and always live in our hearts. We will miss you and always love you.
