MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake 9U All-Stars took three out of four games over the weekend to claim the Desert Classic Baseball Championship.

The team dropped it's first game to the Okanogan Valley Farmers Saturday, then went on a three-game win streak to come away with the bragging rights.

Game 1

Moses Lake dug itself a big hole early falling back 11-0 after three innings of play.

But the team displayed a never say die attitude, and nearly pulled out an improbable come back as they hung 12 runs on the Farmers on the strength of two triples by Jackson Purcell and a two-run shot by Zachary Washburn that got Moses Lake within a run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Game 2

The second game of the day saw Moses Lake pull out a 20-6 come-from-behind win over the Ellensburg All-Stars. Moses Lake battled back to tie the game in the fourth inning, then posted 14 runs in the top of the fifth to break the game wide open.

Game 3

Moses Lake jumped out to an early lead against the Othello All-Stars Sunday morning and never looked back as the team cruised to a 12-4 victory. The back-to-back wins landed Moses Lake in a rematch with Okanogan in the championship game.

Game 4

Moses Lake's bats were sizzling in the title game as the team raced out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning of action, then held on to win the contest 10-8 as Okanogan refused to go away quietly.

Jacob Martinez finished the four-game series with six hits in seven at bats and nine runs scored.

Purcell pounded out eight hits in 11 plate appearances with nine RBI and nine runs scored, Carson Janke added five hits and five RBI, and Colton Murray finished with six hits in nine at bats with four RBI.
