Margaret Hoffmann O'Brien

| June 12, 2013 6:00 AM

Margaret Hoffmann O'Brien, left this world on June 7, 2013 at the age of 71. She was born in Ainsworth, Nebraska on October 12, 1941. She was one of four children to August and Edrie Bechtold. She went to school in Springview, Nebraska then married and moved to Quincy, Washington.

While growing up on the family farm, she learned to sew and make her own clothes. She raised young wild animals for pets, and worked hard alongside her three brothers on the farm. She will always be a farm girl at heart.

She was employed at Lamb Weston in Quincy for over 30 years. In 1986, Margaret took up a personal interest of running. For many years, she entered numerous marathon-running events throughout the Inland Northwest and continued exercising throughout her life.

Margaret met Mark O'Brien in 1997 and they married in 2001. They lived on Mark's farm in Warden with their family dogs Spirit and Jewel. They attended their church religiously, loved to travel, and visit the VFW to dance and mingle with friends.

For many years, Margaret collected coats and donated them to coats for kids along with donating to many other charities in Moses Lake. She enjoyed the new friendships that she developed with her friends while they were rehabilitating through aquatic exercise.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers - Donald and Roger Bechtold, and husband, Mark O'Brien. Margaret is survived by her brother Dennis Bechtold (wife - Pam Bechtold), daughter, Peggy Larsen, son, Doug Larsen (wife -Rudeen Larsen), stepson, Mike Hoffmann, grandchildren, Derick Larsen, Keifer Larsen, Tessa Larsen, Racyna Larsen, great grandchildren, Taylor, Ryker, Gracie, and Willow, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to niece, Dora Lee Breckenridge and close friend, Lori Ahmann.

Memorial donations to Calico Cat, 414 W. 3rd Ave., because of Margaret's love of animals would be her wish. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory. Please sign the Kayser's Chapel guest book and leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com.
