Leonard Roy Reynolds

Leonard Roy Reynolds, 88, was called home by his heavenly Father on June 7, 2013 in Moses Lake, Washington. Leonard was born January 2, 1925 in Rose, Oklahoma to Dennis and Fay Reynolds. He attended schools in Oklahoma and Missouri from 1930-1943. Upon graduation from North Kansas City High School in 1943 he volunteered with the US Army Air Corps and trained as a pilot during World War II. When Japan surrendered Leonard was released into the US Army Reserve. In 1949 he enlisted in the Missouri US Army National Guard as a Liaison Pilot, training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Leonard married Hester Miller (deceased August 1987) in October of 1950 at Hot Springs, Arkansas. They raised one son, two daughters and a grandson. Between 1956 and 1970, they lived in Finley, Washington where they raised 30 acres of alfalfa and bred Charolais cattle while he was employed as a supervisor at Hanford. In 1970 they moved to Moses Lake, Washington where Leonard was employed as a supervisor for U & I Sugar. For a time, Leonard worked for Bechtel Construction while living in Rock Springs, Wyoming. In 1974 they moved to Anchorage, Alaska where Leonard worked for SoHio Oil Company and retired from BP Oil in 1985 in Kenai. From Kenai they drove the Alaska Highway in their motor home in the dead of winter to take up residence in Moses Lake, Washington. Leonard spent his retirement years as a landlord and by travelling.

In July of 1991 Leonard met and married Patricia Ely in Moses Lake and true to his nature they began traveling. Hunting trips, fishing trips, visiting family members and friends and winters in Arizona and Southern California became their lifestyle. Leonard was a caring, gentle man who loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Hester, his parents, his brother Paul Cox and one grandson. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his children, Henry (June) Reynolds, Virginia Liggett and Debbie (Curtis) Mace and his grandson Jeremy (Rosie) Lohr; three stepchildren, Shelley Edie, Shane (Kim) Ely, and Matthew (Laura) Ely; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; his brothers Murl (Jolene) & Ralph (Gerry) Cox; and his sister Karen (Bob) Noland.

Viewing will be held from noon to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 12 at Kayser's Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13 at Pioneer Memorial Gardens (Rd 2 NE, Moses Lake), followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at Moses Lake First Baptist Church,724 W. 4th Ave. Please sign the online guestbook at www.kayserschapel.com.
