MLBA celebrates 20th anniversary

| June 9, 2013 6:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Business Association will celebrate 20 years of working to revitalize Moses Lake's downtown district later this month.

The public is invited to the association's quarterly Nite Out event on June 18 at Sinkiuse Square across from the clock downtown. There will be food, entertainment and prizes from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., according to an MLBA statement. Community members can RSVP by June 11 for a chance to win various prizes. You can RSVP online at www.mlbacares.org or by calling 509-764-2745.

MLBA became a formal organization in 1993, after a group of downtown merchants wanted to work to get people to visit Moses Lake's downtown stores and restaurants, according to a prior Columbia Basin Herald article.

The association currently has about 100 volunteer members. They work year-round on MLBA projects including the annual Ag Parade, the street tree lighting event and citywide cleanups.
