| June 7, 2013 1:00 PM

ROYAL CITY - The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus, sponsored by the Royal City SummerFest, will perform two shows at Lions Park this Saturday, June 8.

The shows at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. will have a local flavor. SummerFest Grand Marshals Barb and Dennis Harris will be the greeters at the 2 p.m. show.

Red Rock Elementary Principal Theresa Eilers will be guest ringmaster at the 2 p.m. show. Orchardist Dain Craver will lead the 4:30 p.m. show.

The goal of the SummerFest group is to raise the funds to pay for the fireworks on Friday night, July 12, at SummerFest.

Between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Saturday you may watch the raising of the big top, then stay for a free tour. There will be much activity as animals are unloaded, the big top is erected and rigging is prepared.

In its 25th season, the C&M circus has become internationally known for quality family entertainment. Its big top measures 80 feet wide by 120 feet long and 30 feet at the tallest point.

This authentic, one-ring, big top circus has been featured on National Geographic’s Explorer TV series, Entertainment Tonight, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune and Arizona Highways Magazine.

Advance tickets are available at Royal City Harvest Foods, Mac's Mocha and Sandoval's Market. They cost $6 for children 2-11, and children under 2 will be admitted free. Adult presale tickets cost $10. Tickets at the door will cost more.
