Combines clash Saturday in Lind

LIND - Parts will fly this weekend in Lind for the Combine Demolition Derby.

The festivities begin at 6 p.m. Friday night, with the Car Derby at the Lind Lions Club Arena two miles east of Lind. Admission for the Friday's derby is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12.

Admission is free for children younger than 6. The Lions Club is sponsoring the event.

A kiddie parade will kick off Saturday's events in downtown Lind at 10:45 a.m., followed by the Grand Parade at 11 a.m.

The Lions Club is holding a barbecue at Lind Town Park beginning at noon Saturday. The cost is $8 per meal.

Pick-up truck races begin at 2 p.m. at the arena

The combines will hit the dirt at 3 p.m. Saturday at the arena. Cash prizes will be awarded to derby winners, heat winners and to the best decorated combine.

The combines used are at least 25 years old and are modified to compete.

Entry to the combine derby is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children younger than 6.

Grain trucks will also be racing Saturday during the Combine Derby intermission.

On Sunday, coaster cars will race on Smart's Hill, beginning at 2 p.m.

Food vendors will be open for events and a beer garden is available for those 21 and older.
