| July 30, 2013 6:00 AM

Ruth Marion Joersz passed away at age 85 on Tuesday, July 24, 2013 at Agapé Care in Pasco, WA. She leaves behind many that loved her dearly including her husband of 32 years, Donald F. Joersz of Kahlotus, WA; Ruth's children; Dan (Chris) Byrd of Redding, CA; Elaine (Larry) Dietrich of Burbank, WA; Marcia Turner of Richland, WA; and Phil Byrd of Kahlotus, WA; Ruth's half-sister, Sandy (Mike) Nelson of Coeur d' Alene, ID; and Don's children; Wanda (Steve) Blackwell, Phil Joersz & Janet Campbell, and Karen (Dean) Williams; and numerous grandchildren, friends and family.

Ruth was born on April 18, 1928 in Elk, WA; to Percy and Lucy Keck. Ruth relocated to Kahlotus, WA in 1954; she later met & married Donald F. Joersz in 1981. Anyone who knew Ruth can attest to her skills at cooking; cake decorating; sewing; knitting and crocheting; singing; playing musical instruments including the piano, accordion, and saxophone; and photography - especially of the outdoors and wildlife. Few people who knew her well can be found who haven't been the recipient of something Ruth made - a Quillow, afghan, baked goods or framed photographs. She came into contact with many people during the years that she cooked and drove school bus for the Kahlotus School District and had a way of making each person in her life feel important. Ruth really enjoyed counting fish at the dam, in fact she loved counting fish so much she was employed by a Hydro-plant as a fish counter, and did this till she retired.

She is preceded in death by both parents; brothers Archie and Junior; Stepfather, Pete Gregerson; grandson, Kyle Byrd; and Step-Son, Doug Joersz.

A Celebration of life will be held at Kahlotus United Methodist Church, Violet Ave, Kahlotus, Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with reception to follow.
