WHITTIER, Calif. - Another little league team from the Columbia Basin has advanced in its post season.

The Columbia Basin River Sharks 12U team traveled to California this week to compete in the 2013 West Zone NorCal Central Region Tournament.

The River Sharks are part of the Bronco League and began tournament play yesterday at 5 p.m. against a team hailing from Maricopa, Ariz.

The double elimination tournament ends this Sunday with the championship game beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The field is comprised of eight teams: the River Sharks, one team from Arizona, one team from Utah, one team from Hawaii and five teams throughout California.

The River Sharks were able to punch a ticket to the Zone tournament after a dominant performance in the 2013 West Zone Regional Bronco tournament in Lacey this past weekend.

The team swept their competition, posting a record of 5-0, en route to first place and a trip to the Sunshine State.

The River Sharks were able to capture first place after two victories Sunday. First, the team was able to dispatch the Spokane All-Stars 6-1 and followed up that performance narrowly beating the Seattle Senators, 6-5.
