EPHRATA - Grant County prosecutors filed charges Monday against the suspect from Friday's shooting near Quincy.

Arnoldo Cazares Mendoza, 20, of Quincy, faces a count of second degree attempted murder, first degree assault and robbery in Grant County Superior Court for allegedly shooting another Quincy man in an orchard on Friday.

Grant County Prosecutor Angus Lee said the attempted murder charge and the first degree assault charge each carry a maximum potential life sentence.

Mendoza allegedly shot the victim, later identified as Luis Ochoa Murillo, several times in the abdomen around 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Murillo, 23, remains hospitalized at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, according to a previous Columbia Basin Herald article. Authorities are still searching for Mendoza.

Police found Mendoza's truck abandoned in an orchard about a mile from the shooting.

A $1 million warrant was also issued Monday by Grant County Superior Court Judge John Knodell for Mendoza's arrest. Anyone who knows where Mendoza is, or other details about the case, should call 509-762-1160 or send an anonymous tip to crimetips@co.grant.wa.us.
