MOSES LAKE - The family of the Moses Lake father of three who was shot and killed in Othello Friday night is reaching out to the Basin community as they raise funds to help pay for funeral arrangements.

Othello police responded to the Cabana Motel Friday night after receiving several reports of a shooting. George Ramos, 36, was transported to Othello Community Hospital where he died a short time later.

Police are still searching for Roberto S. Galan, 29, who was identified as the suspect in Ramos' death.

Ramos' sister, Isabel Najera, said family members have since rallied together to help raise funds for his funeral. They held a car wash off Stratford Road Sunday and on South Pioneer Way Monday.

Family from the immediate area, as well as from Tri-Cities, have come together to help, she said.

Najera said the family will also hold two car washes in Moses Lake Tuesday afternoon. They will be at Kentucky Fried Chicken on Third Avenue and Inland Cellular off Stratford Road, she said. The car washes start at noon and will go until about 5:30 or 6 p.m.

Community members can also call 509-771-1477 for more information about making a donation to the family.

Najera said funeral services for her brother have not been finalized yet. Besides his siblings, Ramos is survived by his mother, three children and one grandchild, she said.
