Driver killed after crashing into horse west of Ephrata

EPHRATA - A Moses Lake man was killed early Monday morning after his vehicle struck a horse in the road two miles west of Ephrata.

Armando N. Capetillo, 24, was driving east in a 1992 Ford Ranger pickup about 2 a.m. on state Route 28, when his vehicle collided with a horse on the highway. The horse had reportedly been spooked, thrown its rider and run onto the road, according to the State Patrol.

Capetillo was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The horse died as a result of the crash. Information on the rider's condition was not made available by the state patrol.
