D. Blake Haworth

D. Blake Haworth passed away on July 19, 2013 at SummerWood Care Center. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Kayser's Chapel. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25th at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory. Blake was born on April 12, 1924 in Spokane, Washington. He was the only child of Dwight George Campbell and Louisa May Blake. When Louisa later married Alan Haworth, two step-brothers joined the family. Blake attended elementary school in St. Maries, Idaho with his 4, 5, and 6th grades spent in boarding school in San Francisco until he returned to St. Maries. His last two years of high school were spent at Post Falls, Idaho where he graduated in 1941.

On November 13, 1943, Blake married Mary Katherine Montgomery with whom they parented three boys: Steven, Norman, and Russell. Blake was in the United States Marine Corps from 1943-1946 earning the rank of Corporal as he served proudly in the South Pacific as a truck driver for a tank battalion. After his military service, Blake worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Spokane, Washington before following the family tavern business. They worked five years in Moscow, Idaho before operating their own Tavern in Warden from 1961 to 1974. Blake and Mary moved to Point Barrows, Alaska where he worked in a kitchen warehouse for eight years. In 1982, Blake retired and moved to Moses Lake. Blake always enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing pool.

Blake was preceded in death by his parents, his two step brothers, his wife, Mary and his son, Steven. Surviving are his sons Norman and Darla Haworth of Warden and Russell and Jan Haworth of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Troy (Kathy) Haworth Moses Lake, Cliff (Alisha) Haworth, Warden, Amber (Larry) Haworth-Castillega, Moses Lake, Andrew (Nichole) Haworth, Boise, ID, Brandon Haworth, Alaska, Michelle (Derek) Gagnon, Arizona; great grandchildren, Huntre & Holden Haworth, Moses Lake, Lacey Dillman, MT, Manny, Frankie & Kaylie Haworth-Casillega, Moses Lake, and Kered Gagnon, AZ.
