Sizzling Summer meet makes splash

MOSES LAKE - Swim teams from across Washington converged on Moses Lake for the Sizzling Summer swim meet over the weekend.

The Moses Lake Manta Rays placed second in the team rankings with 1,873.50 points. Island Swimming left the victor after scoring a total of 1,960 points across the three-day meet.

Luke MacDougall placed first in the 12 and under age group by scoring 182 points in his events. MacDougall placed first in seven events and never placed lower than third. He also helped both relay squads he was a member of place first.

Zachary Washburn was also stood outt for the Manta Rays placing first in six of his 10 events. Like MacDougall, he never placed lower than third.

On the girl's side, Anna Fair was able to take home first place in the 200-meter fly.

Cora Dana also added victories in the 50-meter freestyle, 200-meter medley relay and the 200-meter freestyle relay.

The meet was held at the Moses Lake Surf 'n' Slide Water Park which bustled with spectators. Tents for each club lined the outside of the pool while the parking lots outside the park and near McCosh park filled to the brim.

Supportive friends and family members could submit encouraging messages to be read over the loud speakers.

The Manta Rays are now preparing for the IE Championship meet that takes place in the Tri-Cities next weekend.
