School's never out forever

MEMORY LANE — School is the last thing students want to think about during summer. However for many, a high school reunion is something to look forward to.

This weekend Ephrata class of 2003 will reunite and reminisce. Encouraged activities include the Marty O'Brien Classic Golf Tournament and a catered dinner by Dinner by Briquets and dancing at St. Rose of Lima School Saturday, and a family and teacher friendly barbecue at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Event planner Becky Van Keulen said the events give a range of options for her classmates. In the past many classes held their reunion during Basin Summer Sounds, which distracted the attention from the reunion.

She hopes to connect with people she graduated with, former students who left before reaching high school, families of classmates, and teachers.

On Aug. 16, 17 and 18, Moses Lake’s class of 1983 will celebrate 30 years out of high school at several dinner and drink-type venues. Their Facebook page is active and people are already showing interest.

The Soap Lake High School class of 1963 is taking an all-inclusive approach to the reunion, and invites all other classes before and after them to attend. They hope to receive RSVPs before the Sept. 6-8 event. To RSPV, email Mike Collins, event coordinator, at unklmike@comcast.net.

Are you from one of these graduating classes? Will you be attending your reunion from another school or see old school friends this summer? Share your memories and reunion photos on Columbia Basin Herald’s Facebook page.
