Quincy shooting suspect still at large

QUINCY - The Grant County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating the suspect from Friday's shooting near Quincy.

Authorities have been looking for Arnoldo Cazares Mendoza, 20, of Quincy since he allegedly shot a man multiple times in the stomach about 7:30 a.m. Friday, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim remains in serious but stable condition at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee after requiring two surgeries, according to Kyle Foreman with the sheriff's office.

The victim, who name may be released today, was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee Friday. He was reportedly talking to first responders when they arrived at the blueberry orchard in the 20300 block of state Route 28, two miles west of Quincy.

Detectives were able to conduct the first interview with the victim Saturday afternoon, according to Foreman.

Multiple agencies from the Columbia Basin Task Force continued to search an orchard near Quincy Friday but were unable to find Mendoza.

A State Patrol airplane and Border Patrol helicopter were also used to search an orchard in the area of Roads 9 and U Northwest, where Mendoza's truck was found abandoned. Douglas County tracking dogs were also used in the orchard.

Mendoza allegedly shot the victim in from of more than a dozen workers in the orchard, according to the sheriff's office. Mendoza allegedly fled the scene in his truck following the incident. His truck was found abandoned Friday near the orchard on Road 9 Northwest.

Law enforcement checked Mendoza's home on L Street Northwest in Quincy Friday morning.
