Auditor addresses ballot confusion

RITZVILLE - Voters in the Othello city limits will receive a primary ballot, but people living in the rural area around Othello won't; there are no races or levy or bond requests in that area, according to elections officials at the Adams County Auditor's Office.

Elections Supervisor Heidi Hunt said there's been some confusion about that. There are two primary races in the city, and just the city; two of the three candidates in each race will advance to the general election in November.

Mayor Tim Wilson has two challengers for a new term, Shawn Logan and Shannon McKay. Council member Kenneth Caylor also has two challengers, Corey Everett and Michael Crosier.

The Adams County primary ballot also includes a request from Hospital District No. 2 (Ritzville) for a $10 million construction bond to pay for construction of a new hospital facility. There is a $90,000 maintenance and operations levy request for the Ritzville Water Park.

Fire District No. 7 (Washtucna) is asking for a $20,000 M&O levy, and Parks and Recreation District No. 2 has submitted a $45,000 M&O request to operate the Washtucna swimming pool.

Parks and Recreation District No. 3, which operates the Lind swimming pool, is submitting a $59,000 maintenance and operations levy request. Cemetery District No. 1, Washtucna, is asking for a $7,500 levy for district operation.
